We all experience a range of difficult emotions when we lose someone who is close to us, and this is perfectly normal. In fact, it is usually better in the long term if you go through the pain of the loss in the immediate aftermath of the loss. How long we grieve is individual to us and the situation. There is no ‘normal’ time by which you should ‘get over’ the loss, but sometimes the situation surrounding the loss can make grieving more difficult, and the pain can continue to the point that resuming ordinary life becomes difficult. It is when this happens that it might be helpful to seek some support.
